I have included a handout in this packet as well that details the six pillars. Students who demonstrate these characteristics will be honored with a special recognition ceremony.

I have included in this packet a copy of the California State Standards. The standards explain the major areas we will be studying. Everything taught at Yokomi Elementary School connects to these standards.

The district will also have quarterly GLAS tests to prepare students for the end of the year CST test. Our goal is to have all student score in the proficient and advance category. Any students who continually show growth on the tests will be rewarded. More details will come as the year progresses.
Homework
• Homework will be assigned daily in Language Arts and Math. (No homework on Friday unless it is requested)
• Students are expected to read a minimum of 100 minutes per week at home. (Parents please make sure the child is actually reading during the allotted time. We require students to get a signature or initial from a parent to verify that they are reading nightly. Forms will be passed out next week.)
*If a student is absent they are still responsible for the work that they miss. They will have two days to turn in all missed work. Please attempt to pick up any assignments they miss due to their absences.
